Last week in class we talked a little bit about virtualization
and I found that very interesting. I heard a lot of people were doing
virtualization with
Vista. Right now, you could download
Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 and install a second operating system so that they
both run at the same time on the same computer.
One of
the techs at my work was running to two OS at the same time and I was wondering
how he was doing that, now I know. I then asked him about it this week. He in running Linux Fedora as the core OS and then he is
using some Linux program (maybe RunningPC) to have Windows XP as his virtual
PC. He would say the best of both worlds. This is something I might look into
further and find more information about it.
Does anyone have any other suggestion, comments or problems
with virtualization?
Chapter 6 and 7 were confusing to me. I had a vague idea of
what middleware was but all the different types and services each application
can perform blew me away. The book does well with describing the features and the concepts but in the chapter they don’t give enough examples of
middleware in action. I am sure class tonight will clear things up.
I went through the lab once but like most people I will need
to go over it again to get a better grasp on the concepts, I'm a little rusty just
getting back into the swing of things.
