Integration of mobile devices
 <u1:p></u1:p>

The first article I looked at was iPhone working with Microsoft Exchange. Many company’s
use Exchange servers for their e-mail. Microsoft Exchange intergration has been solely
for Blackberries, Treos, and other Microsoft interfaces. With adding Exchange support
to iPhone it just adds that extra element for Apple to take advantage of and gain
 market share.

The second article is about computer vendor entering the smart phone market. Now Acer
a major player in the PC vendor is to acquire smart-phone maker E-Ten. This will postion
Acer into new market and can instantly become a major player with its advanced technology
 and resources.

Not sure if this is too broad of a topic or not?

I just completed the XML exercise, which went pretty smoothly with the instructor’s
instructions. XML technologies can be very useful to facilitate
data structure, messages, operations, and binding information and services. I glad
we got some experience with XML technology, other than this I just heard of the term
and didn’t know much about it.

Middleware is going to be an interesting topic to expand on in class. I
also learned a little bit about middleware in 533 – IT Infrastructure but it was just
a broad overview. Exploring middleware in more will strengthen my knowledge of the
subject and will help in multiple classes.

Last week in class we talked a little bit about virtualization
and I found that very interesting. I heard a lot of people were doing
virtualization with Vista
. Right now, you could download Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 and install a second operating
system so that they both run at the same time on the same computer. One
of the techs at my work was running to two OS at the same time and I was wondering
how he was doing that, now I know. I then asked him about it this week. He in running
Linux Fedora as the core OS and then he is using some Linux program (maybe RunningPC)
to have Windows XP as his virtual PC. He would say the best of both worlds. This is
something I might look into further and find more information about it.

Does anyone have any other suggestion, comments or problems with virtualization?

Chapter 6 and 7 were confusing to me. I had a vague idea of what middleware was but
all the different types and services each application can perform blew me away. The
book does well with describing the features and the concepts but in the chapter they
don’t give enough examples of middleware in action. I am sure class tonight will clear
 things up.

I went through the lab once but like most people I will need to go over it again to
get a better grasp on the concepts, I'm a little rusty just getting back into the
 swing of things.

The intergration exercise last week was very informative and challenging. There are
many challenges to overcome when working with global database integrations. I
enjoy working in groups and learning with more hands on exercises and lab work more
than just straight lectures. I hope this continues throughout this semester.

The concept of screen scaping was very interesting. On a large scale this probably
isn’t the best solution but on a small scale this can be a very effective tool for
 specific data or purpose.
